How we use visual tools to build Nuon AI

By Mathew Donfrancesco / Founding Partner, Nuon AI

To help us – and our customers –  understand the workings of Nuon’s AI algorithms we use visual tools. These help us track how the AI is hanging together, as well as provide our customers with real-time insights into how their products are performing.

In this blog, I’ve pulled together a snapshot of some visual representations of our AI to give a flavour of the visual tooling behind Nuon.

Nuon AI graph databases

We use a graph database for our main AI engine as it favours data relationships over the more customary tabular format which most database solutions provide – our AI is all about relationships.

Another advantage of a graph database is the visual representations of transaction data they provide.

This graph database data view shows how a single insurance quote looks to the AI.

The following show a group of insurance quotes mapped to a single cohort.

Nuon AI dashboard

The Nuon AI management dashboard gives real-time AI performance data for an insurance product.

We’re web-friendly too, no software needs to be downloaded. You can view and configure everything in your web browser.

Nuon AI’s dashboard provides a rich and interactive user experience that allows for a high degree of configuration and customisation.

If you want to go for a deep dive with the data, you can. Similarly, it’s just as easy to use if you want to keep things simple. It’s entirely up to you.

Our dashboard also comes with a number of pre-configured charts. Here’s a selection of what’s available to you.

AI vs non-AI pricing chart

The AI vs non- AI pricing chart shows you how the pricing service is adjusting the price, in relation to the premium provided by a rating engine over time.

And here we can further see AI vs non-AI pricing over time.

Here, the AI price in purple is lifting away from the rated price.

Taken up rate

In this chart, we see the take-up rate, in silver, of a product over time – lifting from just above 60% to around 70%.

Average price shift chart

The change in average premium, as affected by the AI over time.

Cohort adjustment charts

Adjustment applied to a specific quote cohort over time.

Multiple quote cohorts adjusted over time

Factor adjustments

Here we have a breakdown of how individual rating factors are affected.

The final screengrab shows a factor grouping change recommendation.
